About
Observing the decline of the Conway County economy due to manufacturing plant closures in the 1980s, Dan Rainey recognized the challenges faced by rural economies in accessing capital for growth. Seeking deeper insights into development issues, he earned an MS and PhD degree from Purdue University, specializing in Rural/Regional Development. Over the past two decades, Dan has dedicated his career to Regional Development Economics. With three years at Clemson University and the subsequent two decades at the University of Arkansas, he focuses on researching ways state and local governments can enhance economic opportunities within the ever-changing global economic landscape. His research spans taxation and expenditure policies, education investment, educational attainment factors, commuting patterns, and agri-tourism opportunities.
